Technology Platforms

Mersana's Fleximer® polymer and linker chemistry technologies represent a new way to engineer drug conjugates, and offer the opportunity to build novel drugs that are customized to fulfill a desired clinical profile. This approach results in completely novel drugs with intellectual property protection and extended patent life, via novel composition-of-matter.

 

This versatile technology has generated, and is validated by, Mersana's own clinical-stage pipeline of next-generation oncology drugs and by its emerging portfolio of next-generation antibody-drug conjugates.

Fleximer Polymer

 

The Fleximer polymer is conjugated to therapeutic payloads to confer important and unique benefits. Fleximer is uniquely biodegradable, is well tolerated with a favorable safety profile and has been clinically validated.

 

Conjugating a drug to Fleximer improves its bioavailability, extends drug exposure, enhances biodistribution and improves solubility. Fleximer's structure is also conducive to covalent attachment of multiple, diverse therapeutic payloads -- via Mersana's custom linker chemistries -- allowing for synergistic therapeutic activity.

 

Linker Chemistries

 

Mersana has developed a diverse array of proprietary, customizable linker chemistries complementary to the Fleximer platform. These linkers are fit-for-purpose and can be developed to address specific project requirements, such as controlling rate of drug release, controlling mechanism/localization of drug release, delivering multiple therapeutic agents, improving biodistribution, altering pharmacokinetics and fine-tuning half-life.
